For University of Winnipeg students, faculty and staff, the student or employee card doubles as the library card. These cards may be obtained from Student Central on the main floor of Centennial Hall.

Alumni require an alumni card. These cards may be obtained from the Alumni Affairs Office on the 9th Floor of 491 Portage Avenue (The Rice Building) and need to be activated at the Circulation Desk in the Library.

Students and faculty from other universities can use their institution's student or staff card once a University of Winnipeg Library barcode has been affixed to the card. Please note that students and faculty from universities outside Manitoba should also have a reciprocal borrowing card from their home institution's library. The type of reciprocal borrowing card provided will be determined by the consortium that the home institution belongs to. Please see the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement (CURBA) for more information about reciprocal borrowing privileges between post-secondary institutions in Canada.

External or special borrowers can use a piece of their own photo ID, such as their driver's license, once a University of Winnipeg Library barcode has been affixed to the card. Special borrowing privileges may be obtained from the University of Winnipeg Library for $25/year.
