Microfilm and microfiche are micro-reproductions of materials such as journals, newspapers or other documents.  The Library keeps several documents in microfilm form to conserve space, particularly older periodical material.  Microfilm and microfiche must be read using a microfilm reader, such as the ones on the 5th floor of the Library in the Archives and Records Centre.  Patrons may view microfilm and microfiche by request using the Microfilm Request Form.

Please note that once the request is received, the materials will be ready for pick up according to the following guidelines:

  • items requested before 2 p.m. will be ready for pick up at 2:30 the same day.
  • items requested after 2 p.m. will be ready for pick up at 2:30 the next working day.
  • microfilm and microfiche cannot be retrieved or used on weekends due to the Archives being closed.
